People intending to travel to Karachi’s south side through Shahrah-e-Faisal on Saturday are advised to check the traffic as one of the main arteries in the city is blocked by police due to opposition parties’ protest against alleged rigging in general elections.
Karachi police confirmed it by sharing a video of the road that showed a queue of cars on the road, waiting for the road to clear.
It has been blocked at multiple points including at Karsaz and FTC. Police have diverted the traffic to the Korangi Road.
The route from FTC to Metropol was completely sealed by police. One of the staff members in Aaj News said that roads leading to the Sindh CM House, including Shaheen Complex, Urdu Bazaar, Ziauddin Road, and Fawara Chowk were closed.
Workers of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl protested at Karachi’s Toll Plaza, disrupting the traffic flow at the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway.
One of the users on X, Shaheryar Hasan, wrote on the social media platform at 11:32am that a long queue was seen from Karsaz towards Shahrah-e-Faisal traffic due to the JUI-F rally at Karsaz Bridge.
He also stated that Khizra Masjid side MPA Hospital road, Fawara Chowk, and roads leading to the Sindh Assembly were closed.
According to another tweet, traffic would also suffer from Numaish Chowrangi to MA Jinnah Road as the Jamaat-e-Islami supporters would march at the route as part of their protest.
