Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian congratulated caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani on successful elections in the country on Friday.
According to a statement from the Foreign Office, Jilani and Abdollahian spoke on a phone call on Friday.
Jialni thanked his Iranian counterpart for extending the warm regards of the Iranian people over polls in Pakistan.
The two ministers also discussed further engagements to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Tensions had escalated between the two countries over missile strikes in each other’s territories. However, things came back to normal after dimplomatic engagement.
Abdollahian had even visited Pakistan towards the end of January, signaling normalisation of ties.
The minister had said it would be hard to find any two countries with as deep cultural ties as Pakistan and Iran have. He also said that the two countries have never had a territorial conflict.
