The rupee appreciated by nine paise against the dollar in the interbank market on Thursday, insiders said.
The greenback was trading at Rs279.40 in the early morning trade against the previous closing of Rs279.49 in the interbank on Wednesday.
Globally, the US dollar held broadly steady on Thursday as traders awaited a slew of business activity surveys to gauge the health of major economies and what that may mean for the global interest rate outlook.
