The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday rejected the plea of Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon seeking unconditional pardon after he failed to appear for a hearing in the contempt of court case.
IHC’s Justice Babar Sattar conducted the hearing on the case where he directed Memon to submit his response to a show-cause notice by Monday.
The court also barred him from traveling abroad while turning down his request to transfer the contempt of court case to another bench.
Justice Sattar said he will issue a judgment on the case next week.
A day earlier, the court ordered the immediate arrest of DC Memon in a case regarding issuance of arrest orders under MPO.
The counsel argued that the DC was on leave in Khairpur and intended to leave for Umra, however, Justice Sattar denied the exemption request and ordered all provincial IGs to immediately arrest Memon and produce him in court.
DC Memon is facing contempt proceedings for ordering the arrest of Shaheryar Afridi under MPO, against orders issued by the IHC.
