The rupee made marginal gains against the dollar in the interbank market on Friday, insiders said as the market opened a day after the tens of millions of people voted for a new government in the country.
The dollar fell by 14 paise against the local currency. It was trading at Rs279.20 in the early morning trade.
Meanwhile, shares at the Pakistan Stock Market’s benchmark index lost over 1,000 points in the intraday trade.
The independents were leading in the race for National Assembly seats, according to the Election Commission results issued by Friday noon.
