WIth just over one hour left until polling time closes in the country, Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja said he was ‘satisfied’ with how elections day had progressed.
Speaking to Pakistan Television, Raja said that there had been ‘minor’ problems in different parts of the country but the Election Commission of Pakistan had set up teams to deal with them.
He also said that there had been many questions about the internet disruption in the country, but is should not affect the polling process.
Raja said that the ECP’s own system was not dependant on the internet and the results would be transmitted on time.
He said that almost 2 million texts were received on 8300 each day in the run up to elections, so it was reasonable to say that most people had gotten their voting details on time.
