President Arif Alvi and leading political figures of Pakistan joined tens of millions of people in different cities to cast their votes on Thursday.
Voting in the South Asian country began at 8am, however, moments before it the government temporarily suspended the mobile services given recent terrorist incidents in the country.
But an hour later an independent internet observatory reported an internet outage in multiple regions in Pakistan.
Several politicians lamented the development and called for immediate restoration of the service. The PPP filed a petition in the Election Commission of Pakistan against the suspension of mobile.
All the leaders urged people to cast their votes.
