The political parties will be barred from electioneering after tonight (Tuesday) as the country heads for elections on February 8.
In a notification, the Election Commission of Pakistan said that public meetings by political parties would be prohibited after the specified times under the Elections Act, 2017.
The candidate, who organises or participates in any party meetings, rallies, corner meetings, or any political activity after the deadline, would face legal action, the ECP stated.
On February 4, the ECP announced that the printing of ballot papers had been completed.
The ECP stated that 260 million ballot papers were printed for 859 constituencies. A total of 2,170 tonnes of paper were used in the printing.
The commission said that in addition to the high number of candidates, it was also confronted with the challenge of many cases pending in courts. However, the printing was completed as per schedule, ECP said.
