With only a few days to go before polls are held across the country, Election Commission of Pakistan has announced that printing of ballot papers has been completed.
The ECP said in a statement that 260 million ballot papers were printed for 859 constituencies. A total of 2,170 tonnes of paper were used in the printing.
The statement added that the printing was completed in three institutions under strict security.
The ECP said that the number of candidates in 2024 was 150 times that of 2018’s candidates.
The Commissio said that in addition to the high number of candidates, it was also confronted with the challenge of many cases pending in courts. However, the printing was completed as per schedule, ECP said.
The ballot papers will be transported to their respective constituencies by Monday.
