Karachi’s city court on Wednesday ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh in the May 9 riots case.
The ordered came following a report submitted by the police which revealed that there was no evidence of the PTI leader’s involvement in the riots on May 9.
The court ordered Shaikh to submit surety bonds of Rs200,000 while discharging him of the case.
The PTI leader was arrested by Karachi police on August 30, 2023, as he arrived at the Sindh High Court seeking an injunction against his possible arrest.
It is pertinent to mention that Shaikh was the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly.
