PM Kakar bans foreign visits for all ministers and officials: sources

With only 11 days left in the election, interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has imposed a ban on foreign visits by government officials, according to sources.

The sources said that the restrictions applied to all official or private visits and would remain in place till the end of the electoral process.

Visits have been prohibited for all ‘federal ministers and all government servants, including employees of attached departments and autonomous bodies’.

All federal secretaries have been ordered to withdraw any permissions granted for visits granted by them or by the ministers of their departments.

General elections are scheduled to take place across the country on February 8 for which preparations are entering their final stages.

The campaign trail is also heating up with leaders of all major parties addressing rallies across the country daily.

The interim government is charged with overseeing the election as a neutral set up and is normally in place for 90 days. However, the current government has been in office since August as elections were delayed due to the need for fresh delimitations.
