Modi, cricket: Two things that unite Pakistan, says Junaid Akram

YouTuber Junaid Akram has said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cricket are the two things that unite Pakistan.

“As Pakistanis, we are divided on many things but cricket and Modi are the two things that unite us,” he told Aaj News at an event held related to the first season of Sindh Premier League in Karachi on Monday.

The T20 cricket league started on Thursday, with an opening match between Hyderabad Bahadurs and Karachi Ghazis. As many as six teams would compete for the coveted trophy

He was of the view that the initiative taken in the country’s southern province would be expanded to Balochistan, erstwhile FATA, and Punjab. He hoped that the women’s league would also be organised.

The social media influencer, famous for his vlogging, demanded people from the regional league should be made part of the Pakistan Super League in the coming years.

He was hopeful that the SPL would give an opportunity to talent from the rural areas of Sindh.

When asked, legendary cricketer Javed Miandad said that the head of the cricket board should be a person who is aware of the game.

“The PCB chairman should keep those people around him who are aware of the cricket,” he said and stressed the need for promoting cricket. Miandad said the SPL would be a catalyst in promoting Sindh’s talent.
