As Zaka Ashraf’s tenure at the Pakistan Cricket Board comes to a close, sources have claimed his successor has already been decided.
According to the sources, Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi is likely to be added the PCB’s Board of Governors (BoG) as a nominee of the patron-in-chief.
Accoridng to rules, the incumbent prime minister is the PCB’s patron. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has already approved Naqvi’s nomination, the sources added.
The BoG is made up of 10 members and Naqvi is likely to take up the spot vacated by Zaka Ashraf.
After he becomes a member of the BoG, Naqvi will be able to contest the election for the chairman of PCB.
However, it is not clear when Naqvi will become part of the PCB as he is still the CM Punjab.
In 2013, Najam Sethi had been made PCB chairman after serving as Punjab’s caretaker CM.
