Social media has erupted into outrage after a wrestling theme song was played for Azam Khan in Wednesday’s match.

Pakistan were in a tough spot in pursuit of New Zealand’s 224 runs when Azam came to bat at number 5. At this point, the stadium’s DJ played the theme of WWE superstar Big Show.

WHoever had the idea probably forgot that the internet keeps receipts. Videos of the event soon made it to social media where outrage followed.

Fans have called out the song being played as an act of body shaming and have even asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to formally take up the matter with New Zealad.

Others simply expressed disbelief that something such as this had actually happened in a cricket match on live television.

Khan is a wicket-keeper batsman who has represented Pakistan since 2021. He is the son of former wicketkeeper Moin Khan.
