Security forces have arrested two men in Karachi for demanding extortion money from a shop owner in the Timber market via WhatsApp.
According to the spokesperson of Sindh rangers they apprehended outlaws from Garden, an area of Karachi South, in a combined operation with Sindh police.
“Sindh rangers’ special team participated in arrests of them before receiving extortion,” said the spokesperson, adding, “During investigation accused revealed that were being directed from Iran.”
The accused identified as Noor Muhammad and Isa made a WhatsApp call to the owner of an iron store and demanded Rs500,000.
The men concluded the deal with the shopowner at Rs50,000. The owner of the store told the accused that he would send the amount with his servant.
Police said that Isa’s family receives instructions from Iran and his family also lives there. Raids are being conducted to arrest more members of his gang.
