ECP updates data: Learn about your polling station before February 8

The preparations for upcoming general elections have been reaching to final touches, in a bid to avoid queries of voters. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has advised them to learn about voting details by sending their CNIC number on 8300.

The ECP provided voters with information on texting services. These details are related to constituencies and polling stations.

In response to SMS, voters will receive their census block, serial number in the voter list, family code, constituencies’ numbers of National Assembly and provincial assembly, name of area, telephone number of district election commissioner, helpline number of ECP and its Website.

Acting in compliance with the Supreme Court order, the ECP issued an election schedule for the upcoming February 8 polls on December 15.

Following twenty days of schedule announcement the Senate of Pakistan had passed a resolution calling for a delay in general elections scheduled for February 8 on Friday.

The resolution, moved by Senator Dilawar Khan from KP, was approved with a majority vote.

It argued that the law and order situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not suitable for holding elections. It added that the elections should be delayed until the security situation improves.

The resolution referred to the recent terror attacks in the country, including those targeting JUI-F leader Maulana Fazalur Rehman and National Democratic Movement leader Mohsin Dawar.

However, neither the ECP nor the top court bodies announced the delay in elections.
