A young PTI leader Mashaal Yousafzai, who made headlines earlier this month for interrupting the chief justice of Pakistan, burst into laughter inside a courtroom as the Peshawar High Court heard a key PTI petition on Tuesday.
The PHC was hearing the PTI petition against the ECP decision to nullify its intraparty election and to take away its electoral symbol of bat.
Additional Attorney General Sanaullah was engaged in a heated debate with PTI lawyers and responding to the bench when Mashaal Yousafzai giggled quite loudly in the courtroom.
The attorney general was trying to persuade the single-member bench against offering interim relief to the PTI, which demanded that it should be given back the electoral symbol of the bat and allowed to contest the election as a political party.
This was when Mashaal Yousafzai’s laughter interrupted him.
The additional attorney general raised a protest and urged Justice Kamran Hayat to tell Yousafzai to ‘shut off’ from the courtroom.
“Am I standing here as a joke that she is laughing?” he said.
Justice Kamran Hayat told Mashaal Yousafzai to sit down in a corner.
Earlier this month, Mashaal Yousafzai drew CJP Faez Isa’s ire when she interrupted the country’s top judge as he was drafting a decision at the end of a hearing.
