A 25-year-old lady doctor Saveera Prakash is set to create history as she is the first woman from Buner to contest in the general election for constituency PK-25 of the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prakash is contesting in the election 2024 on the Pakistan People’s Party’s ticket on the seat of minorities and she is being discussed in Indian media after her nomination papers got accepted.
She finished her house job after MBBS, recently, and Dr Saveera is currently preparing for CSS by joining an academy in Lahore. Her father, Dr Om Prakash is also serving for PPP and he worked as a president of PDF as well.
According to Saleem Khan, a local politician belonging to the Qaumi Watan Party, Sawera is the first woman from Buner who filed nomination papers for the upcoming general elections.
Prakash, a 2022 graduate from Abbottabad International Medical College, is holding the post of General Secretary in the Women’s Department of the People’s Party in Buner.
Saveera told the Dawn Newspaper that she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and work for the poor in the area.
She submitted his nomination papers on Friday, December 23.
Saveera emphasized her commitment to working for the welfare of women in the region, ensuring a safe environment, and advocating their rights. She said that women have been constantly neglected in the field of development.
Maintaining the talk she added that the senior leadership of the PPP had contacted his father to get permission from her father about contesting in the general election. Citing her medical background she asserted that his inclination towards serving humanity arose from his experiences of mismanagement and helplessness in government hospitals.

It should be noted that under the recent amendments of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 5% of women candidates are now mandatory for general seats.
