The Election Commission of Pakistan has clarified that the baat symbol has not been offered to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians.
In a statement issued on Monday evening, ECP’s spokesperson said that the symbol has not been offered to PTI-P or any other party.
PTI-P’s Pervez Khattak had said on Monday that he had been offered the bat symbol but had chosen not to take it. However, he had not named who had made the offer.
Khattak had added that the election symbol was of little consequence and he would not contest polls on any symbol except the one he asked for.
The symbol is traditionally identified with PTI but was recently revoked over the party’s failure to hold intra-party elections as per its own constitution.
