Bollywood’s king Shah Rukh Khan has been given back-to-back super hits since the beginning of the ongoing year, but a recently released ‘Dunki’ was only able to collect Rs30 crore at the box office on the opening .
Compared to SRK’s other like ‘Jawan and Pathan’, it is a tiny amount, the said movies gathered over Rs1000 crores worldwide, while Jawan opened with Rs75 crore at the domestic box office.
Dunki was released on Thursday and the opening net business of Rs30 crore places it at the seventh number as the biggest film of the ongoing year on domestic screens following Jawan, Animal, Pathaan, Tiger 3, Gadar 2, and Adipurush. But it’s a greater amount than SRK’s Zero which opened with Rs19.35 crore and could only manage to bring in Rs90.28 crore during its lifetime.
However, the historic flop Adipurush managed to make Rs36 crore on its opening day.
Such opening figures are the lowest for SRK’s film, but it is much better than others such as Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs15.81 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs11.1 crore) and Dream Girl 2 (Rs10.69 crore).
Dunki was the only movie of Bollywood released on Thursday, and ‘Salaar’ of Prabhas seems another bar ahead Dunki has to face to capture the local screen.
‘Salaar’ is being released in multiple languages across the country. Starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran among others, Salaar is handily outpacing Dunki and will make more than Rs 60 crore on its opening day.
