The mother of former PTI leader Usman Dar has accused PML-N leader Khawaja Asif of sending police to attack her house and manhandling her.
“I was asleep at home when Khawaja Asif had my house attacked again. [They] broke the door and entered my house,” she said in a video statement released on Tuesday.
Dar’s mother appealed to CJP Qazi Faez Isa to take notice of the incident.
She claimed that she was manhandled by a raiding party while her clothes were also torn and her hair was pulled as well.
Dar’s mother vowed to file the nomination papers for the upcoming general elections, saying that she would even contest the polls if she was jailed.
“When he heard that I was submitting my nomination papers, he [Khawaja Asif] sent 20 people to my house who manhandled me. No one can force me into submitting to do what they want,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif rejected the accusations saying that he had nothing to do with the incident.
“I have always respected my political rivals and their families. My wife has faced three dozen court appearances and false cases have been made against my son who has no affiliation to politics,” the PML-N leader said.
District Police Officer of Sialkot said that the police raided the house to arrest Dar who is wanted in different cases.
According to him, Dar had been in touch with his family due to which the police carried out the raid at the family’s residence, however, he dispelled the claims of physical assault on the women.
Later, Dar claimed that DPO Sialkot Hasan Iqbal had personal grudges against him and his family.
“There was no man in my house last night when the Sialkot police entered my house without any search warrant,” he told the media as his mother was standing beside him.
“DPO Hasan attacked my house on May 9 on the orders of Khawaja Asif. There will never be free and fair elections in Sialkot if DPO Sialkot remains in his post,” he said.
Dar challenged Asif to contest elections against his mother – slated for February 8 next year. “I will stand by my mother’s side.”
