A woman in India’s Maharashtra state has pleaded for justice after her boyfriend allegedly ran over her and alleged that his intentions were to kill her.
“I still can’t [believe] I was dating him for 4.5 years and he has not come to see me,” Priya Singh said in her Instagram post Thursday. “It only makes everything more clear about his intentions of actually taking my life.”
According to Priya, the incident took place on December 11 and her boyfriend Ashwajit Gaikwad, is the son of Anil Gaikwad, a managing director at the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.
In her detailed post, she also shared pictures of her admitted to the hospital. She had to undergo surgery as her right leg was broken. She has bruises all over her body, saying that her stomach area was deeply scrapped.
According to Indian media, a case was filed against the Ashwajit and two others including the driver, under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 279 (rash driving), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and others of the Indian Penal Code.
Priya said that Ashwajit behaved strangely when she went to meet her on December 11. He allegedly started beating her when she asked him to defend her after one of his friend started insulting her.
“My boyfriend slapped me, tried to strangle my neck, I tried to push him away. He bit my hand, beat me, pulled my hair and his friend out of nowhere pushed me to the ground,” Priya said.
She added that she ran to his car to get her phone and her bag and that’s when Ashwajit asked his driver to run her over. After running over her legs, they purportedly fled from the site.
“I’m really terrified. I’m very scared for my family and myself. I don’t feel safe. I have lost all faith in humanity. I don’t know if my life is ever going to be normal. Please pray for me. All I pray for is justice,” she said.
