Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday launched an Open-Air Gym established with China’s cooperation at the Pakistan-China Friendship Park along Kashmir Road.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Open-Air Gym, the Karachi mayor said the People’s Republic of China had always played a key role in the development and stability of Pakistan. China’s Consul General Yang Yundong, People’s Party District Central General Secretary Dil Muhammad, Director General Parks and Horticulture Junaidullah Khan, Deputy Commissioner East Altaf Sheikh and heads of various departments of KMC were also present on the occasion.
Mr Wahab further said that the people of Karachi had expressed their gratitude to the Chinese government for the establishment and provision of modern facilities for them at the Pak-China Friendship Park.
The Karachi mayor, along with the Chinese Consul General, officially inaugurated the Open Air Gym in Pak China Friendship Park. A cake was cut to mark Pak China friendship and an MoU for cooperation between Chinese Consulate and KMC was also signed by the Karachi mayor and the Chinse Consul General.
The Consul General of China appreciated KMC for the establishment of Pakistan China Friendship Park, and said such initiatives were bringing the two countries closer, as the cooperation between the two countries was already going on in many fields and various institutions had been established in Pakistan in this regard.
The CG said: “Best wishes to the citizens and we hope that they will get better facilities in their daily life. The Chinese government will continue to cooperate with KMC in this regard.”
Mr Wahab said the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor had become an important milestone for Pakistan. Pak-China Friendship Park would further strengthen the bond of friendship between the two brotherly countries, the people visiting this park will be grateful to the Chinese government, the mayor concluded.
