The rupee started the week with a marginal loss against the dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market on Monday.
The local unit shed three paisas against the greenback which was trading at Rs283.9 at the closing of the market, as against the closing of Rs283.87 on Friday, December 8.
In the open market, the buying of the dollar was recorded at Rs284 while it was quoted at 286.5 for selling at the time of filing the story.
During the previous week, the rupee extended gains as it appreciated 0.38% or Rs1.10 to settle at 283.87 against the US dollar in the interbank market.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a negative session as the benchmark KSE-100 Index shed 211.31 points or 0.32% to settle at 66,012.32 levels.
The KSE-30 Index shed 75.08 points or 0.34% to reach 22,048.06 levels at the closing of the market on Monday, the first trading session of the week.
