Azan Awais’s unbeaten 105 helped Pakistan U19 chase down the target of 260 in their match against archrivals India at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup on Sunday.
Pakistan chased the target in 47 overs on the loss of two wickets with 18 ball remaining to secure a comprehensive win against India.
Skipper Saad Baig was not out on 68 off 51 balls to help Pakistan down the archrivals. Opening batter Shahzaib Khan scored 63 off 88 balls.
Earlier, India U19 posted a total of 259 over the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs after being put to bat first. Mohammad Zeeshan took four wickets while conceding 46 runs in his 10 overs.
A day earlier, head coach Mohammad Yousuf advised the Greenshirts to take the match against India as a routine game in Dubai .
“The boys are very keen, focused, and disciplined. Tomorrow’s match is like a routine game for us; we will try to win as we do in all other games and are fully prepared to perform,” he said in video posted from PCB on X.
The last meeting between Pakistan U19 and India U19 saw the Qasim Akram-led side win a thriller by two wickets at the ICC Academy Ground No 2 in 2021.
Mohammad Shahzad was the player of the match in that contest for his contribution of 81 in the chase of the 238-run target.
