The Election Commission of Pakistan has fixed petitions against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s intra-party election on December 8.
The ECP has fixed 11 different petitions challenging the intra-party elections on the same day.
Apart from disgruntled PTI politician Akbar S. Babar, petitions have also been filed by local party leaders including Raja Tahir Nawaz and Noreen Farooq among others.
The petitions ask the ECP to declare the party’s polls held on December 2 as illegal.
The party had held the elections after an ECP decision said that it could lose its electoral symbol, bat.
PTI had been ordered to hold elections and submit a report within 20 days.
In response, the PTI had held its intra-party elections on December 2 with all office holders being elected unopposed. Barrister Gohar became chairman of the party after the party decided that Imran Khan should not contest.
