Rizwana, the underage maid who was allegedly beaten by a civil judge’s wife, will be discharged from the hospital after more than four months of treatment.
Lahore General Hospital’s Dr Al-Fareed Zafar said that the 13-year-old maid will be discharged tomorrow (Wednesday) as she has fully recovered from her injuries.
Rizwana’s case was first highlighted in July when her father Manga Khan claimed that Rizwana had wounds on the back side of the head while several smaller wounds, infected with insects, were also visible on her head when the family reached Islamabad on July 23 to meet their child.
Her entire family lived in Sargodha and would occasionally speak to Rizwana who was working at the house of the civil judge at the Zarta Housing Society in Islamabad at a salary of Rs10,000 per month.
An event will be held for Rizwana where Punjab Health Minister Dr Javed Akram and officials of the Child Protection Bureau will also participate in the event to discharge the underage maid from the hospital.
Rizwana had been treated at the Lahore General Hospital where she went through several surgeries and other procedures.

Days after her admission to the hospital, her doctors revealed that Rizwana was also poisoned as her condition deteriorated when her oxygen level dropped.
Her examination also revealed that Rizwana was suffering from sepsis and both her lungs were affected.
Somia Asim, the prime suspect in the case, was released on September 4 after an additional Session judge approved her bail on Rs100,000 surety bond.
She was arrested from the court premises on August 7 after a district and sessions court rejected her bail plea in the maid torture case and ordered the police to take her into custody.
