The Election Commission of Pakistan will announce its reserved decision on whether Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry will be tried inside jail in a contempt case on Wednesday.
The ECP will announce the decision at 12 pm on Wednesday.
The decision as reserved after the ministry of interior told the ECP that Khan could not be produced for the contempt case due to ‘security reasons’.
Khan and Fawad are being tried by the Commission in a case of contempt of ECP and chief election commissioner.
The two are accused of using ‘intemprate’ language against the institution and its head. Former PTI leader Asad Umar is also facing proceedings in the case and was the only one to appear in person at the previous hearing.
Khan has been in jail since August 5 and is facing multiple cases including the cipher case registered under the Official Secrets Act. He has not been brought to any hearing since his arrest.
Fawad Chaudhry is currently in Adiala Jail on a corruption case, which accuses him of accepting bribes against promise of job.
