The 44th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit commenced on Tuesday in Doha, where the leaders of the six countries and Turkey will discuss the war in Gaza.
In opening remarks of the summit, Qatar’s emir says the deaths of innocent Palestinians in Gaza are a “genocide committed by Israel”.
The summit will primarily deal with the Israeli war on Gaza, which has so far killed over 15,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
The Gulf leaders are expected to discuss the two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict as set out in the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002, which also says that East Jerusalem must be the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
Foreign ministers of the GCC countries arrived in Doha on Sunday to participate in the 158th ministerial meeting of the Council, which is taking place on Monday.
