The whereabouts of Indian citizen Anju, who arrived in Pakistan to marry her Facebook friend Nasrullah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were unknown, India Today reported on Friday.
Her children were quoted as saying by the news outlet that they would not meet their mother.
Anju arrived in KP’s Upper Dir on July 23, 2023. Two days later, she married her Facebook friend Nasullah. It was another story of friendship on social media turning into a love story.
She returned to New Dehli via the Wagah border earlier this week. After being interrogated by Punjab police and the Intelligence Bureau, she was allowed to go to her home town Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi city. But she has not reached there yet.
The security has been beefed up at her residence and as per the Indian media strangers were allowed entry after being thoroughly checked.
A team from the Indian intelligence agency had also questioned Anju’s children – a 15-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son.
An investigation into Anju’s case was going on and statements of the people were recorded, Bhiwadi Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Saini said and added that Anju could be “questioned if needed and be arrested as well.”
