PTV to air Noor Jehan’s songs to honour legendary singer

The caretaker government has decided to telecast Noor Jehan’s popular songs on state-run television from 1st to 23rd December the account of her 23 death anniversary, regularly at 23 hours of the day.

Melody Queen Noor Jehan bid farewell to the world on December 23, 2000, after a prolonged illness. Her memory lives on through her timeless music, a treasure trove of melodies that continues to captivate generations.

To honour the legendary singer, Caretaker Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi announced this on his official X account.

He wrote, “PTV will broadcast her songs from December 1 to pay homage to Madam Noor Jahan on her 23rd birth anniversary.”

Solangi added that from December 1 to December 23, every day at 11 pm, a song of music queen will be broadcast.

Considered to be one of the greatest and most influential singers in the Indian subcontinent, Noor Jahan was a playback singer and actress who worked first in British India and then in Pakistani cinema. His career spanned six decades.

She recorded around 30,000 songs in various languages including Urdu, Punjabi, and Sindhi.
