Lahore police arrest man in maid torture case

A resident of Lahore has been arrested by the Lahore police in a case concerning the torture of a domestic worker at his residence.

According to the details, The First Information Report (FIR) was registered for setting fire to maid Shabnam. The victim is being treated at Mayo Hospital in Lahore.

The incident occurred in the premises of police station North Cantonment of Lahore where owner Shazia tried to burn the maid by sprinkling petrol on her.

The FIR has been registered under section 324 (Attempt to murder) of the Pakistan panel code on the complaint of the maid’s relative Rida stated that a 40-year-old maid named Shabnam has been working here for the past 11 years.

Following registering the complaint the police arrested the owner identified as Naeem alias Nomi but his wife is still out of police custody and raids are being conducted to arrest him.

Victim Shabnam stated that she was sprinkled with petrol and set on fire, Shazia had asked the maid for hot water, over which there was an argument and she sprinkled petrol on Shabnam and tried to set her on fire.

According to the police they initiated a probe into the matter to find the facts of the incident.
