PTI to hold intra-party elections on Friday

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to hold its intra-party elections on Friday.

Party sources said that the decision to hold elections had been taken with the consultation of Imran Khan.

The party has issued a schedule for the elections on Friday. However, the chairman spot will not be up for contest.

The party said that Imran Khan would be elected chairman unopposed, while other seats will have competition from multiple people.

The decision comes after the Election Commission of Pakistan told the party to hold intra-party elections or risk losing bat as its electoral symbols.

The ECP’s rules make it compulsory for every registered political party to hold intra-party elections every five years.

Following the elections, political parties are required to submit a certificate confirming that the elections have taken place.
