Tales of extravagant expenditure and special entries in weddings are a constant in Pakistan’s wedding culture. However, a groom in Swabi rented out a special ride to arrive for his big day.
Zakaria, who hails from Swabi, arrived at the head of his baraat not in a vehicle but in a helicopter.
The helicopter landed in Achini Bala in Peshawar, at the house of Rehman Shah, Zakaria’s father-in-law.
Police said that the man had rented out the helicopter on the demand of the bride to be. Zakaria’s wife went along with him on the helicopter on the way back.
The groom was accompanied by six other people and reportedly paid Rs800,000 for the aerial ride.
The helicopter journey lasted 40 minutes from Swabi to Achini Bala and another 40 minutes on the way back. Zakaria’s total travel and stay amounted to Three hours and 40 minutes.
