The First Information Report for the fire in Karachi building that killed 11 people on Saturday was filed on Sunday.
The FIR was registered in the Shahrah-e-Faisal police station with Sub-inspector Sadruddin Mriani as the complainant.
It says that the the fire in the RJ Mall broke out at 5 am on Saturday and engulfed the six-storey building rapidly. People in the building tried to escape through the lift and stairs but those who were stuck sustained severe burns.
The probable cause of the fire in the RJ Mall was listed as short-circuit. However, the FIR adds that a detailed investigation will clarify the real cause.
Sections related to criminal negligence and manslaughter were added to the FIR.
Earlier reports had said that the fire started at 6:30am on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors of the building, which was brought under control around 10:30am.
The fire started from a generator placed on the roof and due to the smoke filling the upper floors of the building the rescuers faced difficulties, officials had said on Saturday.
A total of 11 people had died in the fire in the building.
