Over 40,000 to take MDCAT re-run in KP on Sunday

The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) would be again conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday (today), following allegations of massive cheating in a previous exam held on September 10.

The test would begin at 10am and end at 7:30pm, according to the Khyber Medical University administration.

Last month, the Peshawar High Court ordered the authorities to hold the MDCAT again in the province within six weeks as it upheld the provincial cabinet to re-conduct the exam.

In September, the KP cabinet decided to re-conduct MDCAT following allegations of massive cheating in the previous exam. But the decision was not welcomed by the successful applicants and the matter went to the courts.

As many as 11 centres have been set up in seven districts in the province including Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, Mardan, Lower Dir, Swat, and Abbottabad, where at least 40,220 aspiring candidates would appear.

Strict measures have been taken to ensure transparency in the test, which is necessary for getting admission into medical and dental institutions.
