PTI worker sustains bullet injury in ‘clash with police’ in KP’s Dir

A PTI worker sustained bullet injuries when the party supporters going to participate in a workers’ convention allegedly clashed with police in the Chukiatan area of Upper Dir district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

The PTI workers were arriving at the site to participate in the workers’ convention in Sahibabad. However, the district administration imposed Section 144–under which the gathering of more than five people is banned–in the district and blocked roads leading to the site of the gathering.

Sources said that the clash broke out when policemen attempted to stop a cavalcade of PTI workers at Chukiatan, as they pelted stones at police. Policemen were reported to be injured in the clash.

Police resorted to aerial firing in which a PTI worker, identified as Shah Alam, was injured and was moved to the hospital, they added.

According to police, one official was injured after the PTI workers pelted stones and was moved to the Dir hospital for treatment.

PTI’s Omar Ayub Khan claimed that the police resorted to firing on the PTI workers who arrived to participate in the party gathering.

“[The] Election Commission [of Pakistan] should tell if it is busy in holding rigged elections?” he wrote in a post on X.
