A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against President Arif Alvi, who has been accused of misusing his office and subjecting it to ridicule.
The petitioner urged the court to either bar Arif Alvi from using his powers as the president of Pakistan or remove him from office.
The petition, filed by a citizen named Ghulam Murtaza, said that President Arif Alvi misused his authority and insulted the office of the president.
The president belongs to the entire nation and not to a political party, but Arif Alvi has dedicated the presidential office to PTI political activities, the petition said.
It said that President Arif Alvi was guilty of unconstitutional action adding that it was the president’s job to give the date of the general elections, but he had failed to give a date.
The petitioner further said that the president did not ensure the implementation of the Constitution under Article 5. He should be stopped from working as president and action should be taken against him for violation of Constitution, said the petitioner.
