In order to shrink the expenses and utilize the available technology Pakistan Railways is gearing up toward solar power systems.
Pakistan Railways has announced on its X platform that it is moving towards solar penal with the help of the private sector and proposals in that matter will be called soon.
Recently, Pakistan Railways also launched two applications for the easiness of passengers and train drivers, the ‘Digital Railway Driving System’ and ‘RABTA’ apps, showing its commitment to adapting the latest technology.
Under the project, the solar panels will be installed at 45 railway stations and in the offices of Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur and Karachi divisions with a budget of Rs40 million.

In the first phase, Pakistan Railways has selected three points in Peshawar, five in Rawalpindi Division, 20 in Lahore Division, four in Multan Division, five in Sukkur Division, three in Quetta Division and five in Karachi Division.
In the previous year, then prime minister Shahbaz Sharif had instructed to plan a comprehensive strategy to develop Pakistan Railways on modern lines, under which solar panels of international standards.
