Without any doubt cricket is another craze for India after movies and their bond has become strong over the years, with many personalities from the two fields tying the knot. But this relationship becomes healthy when Bollywood stars are seen at cricket matches.
A similar thing happened on Sunday when the World Cup final between India and Australia was played in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Although they might be a little disappointed with the team’s performance, their presence in the stands made the jam-packed stadium and fans at home elated.
To start with, Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri were seen at the stadium. Videos of him hugging actor Ayushmann Khurrana and Deepika Padukone were making rounds on social media. Ranveer Singh, wearing an Indian jersey, was also seen at the stadium.
But it was not just the Jawan actor’s attendance that was a moment to catch. In one of the clips, he was seen taking a cup of tea from singer Asha Bhosle and walking to the room.
It’s not the first time that Indian celebrities are seen at a cricket match.
The final match got more interesting when a pitch invader interrupted the final with a pro-Palestine message.
Earlier this week, Indian fans urged Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan not to watch the final match.
Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, and John Abraham were spotted when India pounced on New Zealand in the semifinals.
Fast bowler Mitchell Starc took three wickets as Australia dismissed India for 240 in the World Cup final in front of nearly 130,000 fans.
Five-time champions Australia elected to field first and the players backed up skipper Pat Cummins’ decision with disciplined bowling and impressive fielding at the world’s biggest cricket stadium filled with a sea of India’s blue jerseys.
Australia will need 241 to secure their sixth World Cup title. India are chasing their third crown after 1983 and 2011.
