To reduce migration, the minimum salary for hiring foreign workers will be increased to more than £30,000 in the UK.
As part of their efforts to lower record levels of net immigration, ministers are also considering restricting the ability of overseas NHS and care workers to bring family members.
These actions precede the release of data later this month that is anticipated to demonstrate that, in spite of a Tory manifesto promise to reduce immigration, net immigration is still significantly higher than 2019 levels.
The changes were shared by Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick on ITV’s Peston show, where he stated that fresh regulations would result in a “very substantial” decrease and that the system was “open to abuse”
