The caretaker government of Punjab is discussing artificial rain in Lahore and other smog-affected areas, an official said.
“We have talked to Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission and universities that have worked on this. The chief secretary of Punjab will lead a team to talk to Dubai to ensure artificial rain in Lahore and other affected areas if needed,” Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi said during a media briefing in Lahore on Wednesday.
The provincial government has called a meeting tomorrow with the officials from Bahauddin Zakariya University and Punjab University, he said, adding: We will work on whatever recommendation they give us.“
“It is a difficult thing to do. But we are starting working on it immediately,” CM Naqvi said.
“The government has decided to install 12 ionizer filters in Lahore immediately to clear the air. We are going to approve in the next cabinet meeting,” he said.
He said that a team of Chinese experts has been requested to visit Pakistan to assist the provincial government in improving the air quality of the province.
