Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee has called skipper Babar Azam for a meeting on Wednesday.
The invite from Ashraf comes a day after Azam landed in Pakistan on his way back from an underwhelming World Cup campaign, where the national team failed to make a place in the semi-finals.
Teamd Director Mickey Arthur is expected to reach Pakistan on Wednesday and will meet Ashraf soon after where he will present a report on the team’s performance.
Manager Rehan ul Haq is also expected to present his own report of the team’s affairs in the tournament to Ashraf.
The meeting between Azam and Ashraf comes after weeks of speculation that the captain could be removed.
Sources say that the board will take decisions based on the reports and meetings.
Chief Selector Inzimam-ul-Haq and bowling coach Morne Morkel have already stepped down from their position.
