Muhammad Hafeez front runner for key position in PCB

Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is a front-runner to get a key position in the Pakistan Cricket Board PCB after the poor performance of the green shirts in the World Cup 2023.

According to sources, Hafeez is favoured by the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Cricket Management Committee (CMC) Zaka Ashraf, and he is likely to get a key post before the Australia tour next month.

The source added Hafeez has also expressed his availability for the job.

As per other media reports on Tuesday, Former captain Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez will meet Zaka Ashraf.

Sohail Tanveer was also invited for the said meeting.

The purpose of Zaka Ashraf’s meetings with the cricketers is to determine the reasons for the defeat and likely to announce new appointments to the board for the upcoming Australia tour.

According to the sources, Zaka Ashraf will go to India to attend the ICC meeting on November 17. Before leaving for India, he will meet captain Babar Azam as well.

The Pakistan national cricket team will tour Australia in December 2023 and January 2024 to play three Test matches. The teams will contest the Benaud–Qadir Trophy and the series will be a part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship.
