Khawar Maneka was granted bail in a corruption case by the Lahore High Court on Monday.
Maneka has been asked to submit surety bonds worth Rs100,000 to secure bail.
The prosecutor opposed the bail saying Maneka was guilty of grabbing lands belonging to a graveyard. The prosecutor said that the Auqaf department should have regained possession of the land in the case.
However, Maneka’s lawyer said that his client had been arrested on September 25 under the allegation of illegal construction in a graveyard but nothing had been proven.
He had been arrested based on a reference filed by Okara’s district commissioner which said he had constructted a marriage hall and 26 shops illegally on a site designated for a graveyard.
The DC had said that no prior approval of the construction had been taken.
Maneka is the former husband of Bushra Begum, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
