KP interim cabinet takes oath in Governor House

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali on Monday took oath from members of the interim cabinet at Governor House in Peshawar.

Governor Ali administered the oath-taking ceremony of the members a day after Justice Arshad Hussain (Retd) was sworn in as the caretaker Chief Minister of KP.

Former bureaucrat and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan passed away on November 12 at the age of 89. According to the hospital administration, he was brought to the hospital last night due to cardiac arrest.

Syed Masood Shah, Justice Irshad Qaiser (Retd), Asif Rafique, Dr Najeeb Ullah, Syed Amir Abdullah, Ahmed Rasool Bangash, Dr Mohammad Qasim Jan, Amir Nadeem Durrani and Engineer Ahmed Jan took oath as interim provincial ministers.

Feroz Jamal Shah could not take oath as he was abroad, while sources said that he would be sworn in after returning to the country.

Earlier, reports said that the formation of the caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet was completed and most of the ministers from the previous cabinet have been re-inducted into the new cabinet, and their portfolios have not been changed.

Justice (retd) Arshad Hussain was sworn in as the caretaker Chief Minister of KP yesterday after the death of Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Azam Khan.

According to the sources, most of the ministers of the previous cabinet have been included in the new caretaker provincial cabinet once again and their portfolios have not been changed, however, new ministers are also likely to be appointed.

Sources said that consultation on the names of the new ministers is going on, the Governor will once again administer the oath to the caretaker ministers, and the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 3 pm today.

It should be noted that on November 11, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Azam Khan died at the age of 90, after which his cabinet was automatically dissolved.
