Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has claimed that Ali Awan, a key party leader and former member of National Assembly, has been abducted.
In a post on X, PTI said that the alleged abduction happened in Battal, Mansehra on Wednesday night.
The party said that Awan had been taken to an unknown location. Sources told Aaj News that he was arrested in the Mansehra area of Battal and handed over to the Islamabad police.
“We demand his immediate production before a Magistrate. The rule of law should be followed in letter and spirit,” PTI said.
There has been no statement from the authorities regarding his arrest so far.
Awan serves as the party’s additional secretary general and president of its Islamabad region. He was elected to the National Assembly from Islamabad in a by-election in 2018.
Meanwhile, sources added that another PTI leader Hazbullah Khan was arrested in Punjab.
