PTI’s Senator Ali Zafar said that the party’s political engagement committee is not mandated to negotiate with political parties on seat adjustment or electoral alliance.
“It is the Election Commission’s responsibility to hold free and fair elections. However, we are not seeing such elections in the future as PTI is not allowed to hold rallies and its workers and leaders face arrests,” he told Asma Shirazi on Faisla Aap Ka on Wednesday.
The PTI constituted a political committee due to these reasons, he said, adding that the party is currently concentrating on contacting ECP and the caretaker government in the centre and provinces. “We are also ready to contact the political parties on timely elections.”
PML-N’s Senator Musadik Malik said that the PTI is hesitant to talk to political parties and plans to only talk to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
“Whenever there was an opportunity for a dialogue, Imran Khan spoiled it by calling the opposition thieves and saying that he would not shake hands with them,” he added.
The PTI chief needs to approach party leaders to heal the nation, Malik said, adding that PML-N was ready to hold dialogues with any political party.
PPP’s Senator Mula Bakhsh Chandio said that he was surprised by the announcement of the PTI’s political committee formation.

“The PTI would not have been in the current condition if it had done it before. The responsibility lies on Imran Khan. He always refused to talk to politicians,” he added.
He agreed with the PTI to ensure timely elections, however, he did not see PTI and PPP on the same page.
“However, the attitude is similar for both parties. The attitude towards Imran Khan and PPP is the same,” he added.
Chandio was of the view that the PTI committee would not be entertained by any party unless it guaranteed that Khan was in agreement with the objectives of the committee.
