Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has said that there was no policy for a ban on PTI rallies, as the former ruling party claimed that several leaders were arrested in different districts for holding rallies last week.
“I will take details of the rally about which the PTI where a raid was conducted,” he said in an interview with Samaa that was aired on the channel on Thursday. “If such an environment existed before May 9, there would be no justification. Discouragement of any political party is not our policy.”
Last week, the Lahore police raided PTI offices located in a private housing society at Ferozepur Road in the city and arrested several workers before a party convention, the former ruling party has claimed.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the former ruling party, especially after May 9. He claimed that the people did not vote for former PM Imran Khan to be in conflict with state institutions. “The future of PTI will depend on legal proceedings.”
When asked, he said that his government would challenge Supreme Court verdict concerning the trial of civilians in military courts.
