Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and US Ambassador Donald Blome have discussed the general elections, due in January, and Afghan refugees.
In a statement, the US embassy said that Kakar and Blome discussed a wide range of important bilateral issues. They also discussed the settlement of Afghan refugees in America.
The development comes as elections are due in Pakistan in January 2024. The Election Commission of Pakistan has denied impressions that polls could see a further delay in the country.
Moreover, Pakistan has set a November 1 deadline for illegal refugees to leave the country. Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has said that the government has created “holding centres”, temporary camps, to keep any illegal refugees who continue to stay in the country after the deadline.
